The LSP Circulation Work Group presents its findings from the Fine-Free at Your Library survey issued in November 2022. They discuss the movement towards going fine-free as an equity issue, present the results of the survey, and explain various processes of going fine-free within ALMA configurations and analytics. Additionally, they discuss methods to address the most common issues found in the survey results. Instruction & Outreach Librarians from East Los Angeles College discuss their library's formation and evolution of a robust community college internship program for MLIS students. JSTOR, a Library Consortium vendor, shares with CCLC members their new two-year college fee model for JSTOR journals and primary sources. The LSP Cataloging Work Group demonstrates how to use OCLC Connexion client to perform basic cataloging operations such as searching, editing, deriving, saving, and exporting. A brief overview of WorldShare Record Manager. An LSP Circulation and LSP Systems work group presentation on improving course reserves management in Alma: an alternative way to handle instructor copies in your course reserves collection. It can be difficult to track and manage instructors' personal copies. Depending on your institution's policies, they may need to move on and off reserve each term or sent back to the instructor. Alma has an enhancement that will separate instructor materials into personal copy libraries, allowing for easier movement of items in and out of the reserve collection and requiring less processing for staff. The LSP DEI Task Force shares their work in progress to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives of the LSP: an operating process to identify and collect potentially offensive terms discovered in bibliographic records and a LSP DEI statement reaffirming commitment to DEI efforts. Attendees previewed their drafts and provided feedback and comments during the webinar. The LSP DEI Task Force will present final recommendations to the LSP Governance Committee on May 6, 2022 for discussion and consideration. Marc Cormier, Product Manager Lead at ProQuest, is interested in learning about specific content and user experience needs of students, faculty, and libraries in the community college space. ProQuest is conceptualizing a multidisciplinary product crafted specifically for community colleges, focusing on the most important and relevant content for students whether their goal is to earn an associates degree, build towards a 4-year degree, or focus on certifications in the trades, nursing, or other skilled professions. The goal is to understand what “comprehensive” means to faculty and students at the community college level and what kind of interface/user experience will best support research success for students regardless of their academic goals. LSP issues: Named user and bibliographic record limits (Ex Libris contract-related matters). This is an issue of how substantially over the contract numbers we are in each case, and how this could affect overall costs going forward if changes are not made. It’s important to know that March 31 looms as a reckoning point.The webinar will present the problems and ramifications. But the webinar will also present solutions, with next steps and some ideas for strategies to consider at the college/institution level. The LSP Task Force and the Governance Committee have sorted through this and know how to move forward.
