Information on LSP work groups & task forces

About the LSP Work Groups

The purpose of the work groups is to identify best practices, articulate ongoing needs, and make recommendations to the Governance Committee for any policies that might be useful during and after implementation of the new LSP. Organized by core functional areas of library services, LSP statewide work groups are assembled and report to the LSP Governance Committee.

Analytics

The Analytics work group will develop workflows and documentation for systemwide reporting needs that support all CCC libraries, streamline current analytic procedures, and identify available reports that relate most closely to the needs of our system. The work group will also share essential analytics information and updates, and support training and educational opportunities for analytics skill development based on the needs of the consortium.

Cataloging

The Cataloging work group is responsible for proposing policies related to cataloging, assisting in the development of cataloging workflows, and assisting in the development of training for those cataloging in the new shared environment. These actions are guided by our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility as outlined in the LSP DEIAA statement.

Circulation

The Circulation work group evaluates the operations of the fulfillment component of the LSP product on behalf of CCC libraries. By soliciting feedback from the system via multiple lines of communication, the work group will make recommendations to the LSP Governance Committee in regard to standards, best practices, solutions to problems, guidelines and policies. The Circulation work group is responsible for evaluating the fulfillment component to identify and develop best practices that address circulation, course reserves, user management, and other functions related to access services. These recommendations will be guided by our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility as outlined in the LSP DEIAA statement.

Discovery and User Experience

The Discovery and User Experience (UX) work group is responsible for proposing policies, workflows, and best practices for the development and use of a discovery system as they relate to the functionality of the interface and the overall user experience.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Accessibility

 

  • The workgroup is committed to outreach and collaboration with other LSP workgroups in fulfilling its goals and objectives and supporting other workgroups to accomplish their goals and objectives in alignment with DEIAA principles.

 

  • The DEIAA workgroup may propose from time to time the establishment of a task force (target or sub-group) that is comprised of experts as necessary in specific topics such as harmful language. A call might be put out to member groups of the ALA such as the Black Librarian Association, Reforma, or APALA for those specifically interested and knowledgeable about the topic.

Electronic Resource Management

The Electronic Resource Management (ERM) work group evaluates the operation for the Electronic Resource Management component of the LSP product on behalf of CCC libraries. The ERM work group is responsible for proposing best practices, workflows, and policies, as related to the Electronic Resource Management. By soliciting feedback from the system via multiple lines of communication, the work group will make recommendations to the LSP Governance Committee in regards to standards, best practices, solutions to problems, guidelines and policies. These recommendations will be guided by our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility as outlined in the LSP DEIAA statement.

Instruction

The Instruction work group develops and recommends pedagogical practices and student learning outcomes for instruction on the use of the discovery system. The work group identifies challenges and opportunities that arise while teaching with the discovery system and provides recommendations based on the identified shared needs, experiences, and practices of librarians across the colleges. The work group is responsible for maintenance of the LSP Instruction Resources Canvas course which includes instructional materials and courseware connected to the discovery system. Major considerations of the group include the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy Instruction, the unique configurations of each college’s discovery system, and the close intersection of user experience and instruction. The recommendations from and projects pursued by the work group will be guided by our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility as outlined in the LSP DEIAA statement.

Systems

The Systems work group is responsible for developing recommendations for system configurations, system integrations, authentication, data privacy, systems security, and areas related to system level functionality. The work group uses a lens supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility as it advises the LSP Governance Committee, CCC Libraries and Network Zone Administrator on standards, best practices, solutions to problems, guidelines and policies.
